About Therapy with Melinda

My Approach

     At the heart of my therapy practice is a belief in total wellness. True healing happens when we attend to both the mind and the body. Emotional pain doesn’t just live in our thoughts; it lives in our nervous system, in our relationships, and in the patterns we’ve developed to survive. My work is rooted in creating a safe, compassionate space where those patterns can be explored and modified.

     As a parent myself, I understand the unique challenge of navigating daily life while raising children and doing the hard, often invisible work of healing your own past. It can feel overwhelming to hold space for others when you're still learning to hold space for yourself. That’s what I am here for. I approach this work with empathy, patience, and a belief in your capacity to grow.

     I use a range of evidence-based approaches, with a strong focus on EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing). This powerful and effective tool supports the brain’s natural ability to heal. EMDR can be used to process both "big-T" traumas and the quieter, chronic stressors or emotional wounds that still affect how you feel, relate, and show up in the world.
